Do you want to get rid of cold drafts, moisture or mold, improve temperature control, and reduce your electric bills? Or do you have problems with ice dams and other structural concerns? Are you concerned that your home may be contributing to allergies, asthma, or heat related health issues?
A free Home Energy Assessment (HEA) is the right first step. The Concord Municipal Light Plant has an information webpage on Energy Assessments, which during the COVID epidemic can be conducted virtually, using a smart phone.
If you have not had your home assessed in the last two years, you can have it done again. It may be time to improve your insulation, or check out technologies like smart thermostats, and the incentives for retrofits may have changed as well!If you decide to go forward with the recommendations, keep in mind that rebates from CMLP or MassSave program can provide up to 75% of the cost of insulation upgrades with no cap on costs. This can lead to a much more comfortable home and much lower heating and cooling bills. MassSave will also pay 100% of the cost of basic common air sealing measures.
If you live in a condo, you can still get an assessment! The organization who assigns condo assessments is the utility Multifamily Market Integrators. Check them out here.
NOTE: Due to COVID-19, your Home Energy Assessment can be Virtual! All in-home assessments have been suspended. However, Mass Save is now offering Virtual Home Energy Assessments. This can help reduce bills right away, and offers some enhanced incentives for customers who choose to have insulation installed as soon as it is safe to do so. You can check your eligibility here.
